Our Master of Ceremonies, Mr Chris Cowdrey former Kent and England Captain

Chris Cowdrey is the eldest son of Lord Colin Cowdrey, one of the great names of English cricket. Like his father, Chris is a former Kent and England captain, and since retiring has distinguished himself in the worlds of cricket, business and broadcasting.

Chris became a professional with Kent in 1976. He was awarded his County Cap in 1979, and went on to captain Kent from 1985 to 1990.. Chris played all five test matches on David Gower’s successful England tour of India and Australia in 1984 - 85, and with only his fourth ball in Test cricket he took the wicket of Kapil Dev in Bombay!

In 1988 he was appointed Captain of England, though sadly, injury prevented his progress. After sixteen years with Kent, he had one season with Glamorgan before retiring in 1992. During his career he had scored more than 12,000 runs and taken more than 300 wickets, but above all he will be remembered as one of the great fielders of his era in any position.

Chris became a regular member of BBC Radio 4's Test Match Special team before moving to TalkSport as the lead cricket presenter alongside Geoffrey Boycott. He has recently joined Sky Television as a specialist summariser. He is much in demand as one of the most humorous public speakers, a regular Master of Ceremonies and a top class auctioneer, and we are delighted that he will be with us at this year's awards ceremony.
